Fergus Falls, MN (KFGO) - A Minnesota man is in jail following a police pursuit and attempted kidnapping in Otter Tail County Sunday morning.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office says around 1:45 a.m., they responded to I-94 near Fergus Fall for a domestic dispute and attempted kidnapping.

The suspect, 32-year-old Grant County resident Jason Morimoto, had intercepted his estranged wife while she was driving. He implied the use of a firearm and forced her into his vehicle. The woman was able to escape on foot and flee just as officers arrived on scene.

Deputies and officers from Fergus Falls attempted to stop the man but Morimoto fled at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued but was cancelled due to his reckless driving and weather conditions. An alert was sent out to area law enforcement.

Traverse County Deputies located Morimoto and attempted to stop him but again he fled. His vehicle became stuck in a field. He then ran to a nearby residence and asked for a ride to the Sanford Wheaton Medical Center, where he was treated for frostbite.

He was arrested at the medical center.

The sheriff's office says he will likely face charges of attempted kidnapping, assault, fleeing in a motor vehicle and violation of a restraining order.
