GRAND FORKS (AP) - Officials with a University of North Dakota research center say they have hired 11 new fulltime employees in the last year to help handle a dramatic increase in business.
Energy and Environmental Research Center CEO Tom Erickson says in the last fiscal year the center has been awarded the most contracts in six years. That includes $36.5 million in new projects in the last year, which is a 29 percent increase over last year and 49 percent increase from 2014.
Erickson says the center has also reorganized its business model to become more efficient.
The EERC has more than 1,300 clients in 52 countries, mostly from the private sector.
