Police shooting in Hibbing

HIBBING, Minn. - Authorities are investigating a non-fatal officer-involved shooting in Hibbing.It happened just before 1 p.m. Friday when two Hibbing police officers responded to a 911 call of a person with a gun.

When officers arrived, they encountered a man outside a residence who was carrying a gun. Officers opened fire, striking the man.

Sgt. Jeff Ronchetti says nobody died, but two people were taken to hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Their names have not been released.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has taken over the investigation. BCA officials say the investigation is in the early stages, but they expect to release more information once preliminary interviews are done.
