FARGO, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota farmers planted 65,000 acres of winter wheat last fall, down from 130,000 acres the previous year.
Winter wheat is planted in the fall and harvested the following summer. It's not a major crop in North Dakota, and acres fluctuate from year to year.
The Agriculture Department says planted winter wheat acres nationwide totaled 32.4 million, down 10 percent from the previous year.
