MORTON COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) -The Morton County Sheriff's Office has revised the number of Dakota Access Pipeline protesters arrested in a hostile confrontation with law officers over 10 hours Monday and early Tuesday.
The protesters attempted to push through a line of officers in riot gear who were behind a wire fence.
Initial reports said there were 3 arrests. The updated arrests over two days now totals 16.
An estimated 200 protesters marched across open country from their main camp and came within 700 feet of the fenced-off pipeline horizontal drill pad. Arrests were made in that area and on the Backwater Bridge which is off-limits to protesters. Those arrested were charged with trespassing, inciting a riot and resisting arrest.
The number of arrests made since protests began in Morton County in August has now topped 600.
