FARGO (KFGO) - The short-list of potential developers for a new student housing complex east of the NDSU campus has been narrowed to five companies. Written proposals are due in early October followed by confidential, one-on-one interviews with the finalists. One developer should be selected by early November.
John Glover heads the NDSU Foundation and Alumni Association which owns 21 homes covering 3.5 acres along the 1600 block of University Drive and 12th Street North where the housing project is planned. He says the association will lease out the block to the developer who will build, manage and operate the complex. The developer will also handle zoning changes that will be required for the property.
He declined to discuss the project cost, saying more will be known once a developer is selected and a preliminary design is worked out.
Glover says the foundation purchased the houses over the past couple of years as the properties went up for sale, aware NDSU would need space for additional student housing as enrollment grows. The homes have been rented out since.
