FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Dry weather in western North Dakota has allowed farmers to make progress in harvesting small grains.
The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that winter wheat has been 74 percent harvested, well ahead of the 21 percent reported last year at this time. Spring wheat was 22 percent harvested, ahead of the 11 percent mark from last year. Harvest for barley and oats was well ahead of last season's pace.
The report says persistent rain during the growing season in the northeastern part of the state has caused lowland flooding, disease issues and harvest delays.
Pasture and range conditions were rated 57 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 15 percent poor or very poor.
