Alexandria, MN (KFGO) - A crime spree including a burglary, indecent exposure and a pursuit led to the arrest of a 40-year-old Perham, Minnesota man.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says they received a 911 call around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday from a Nelson resident about a burglary in progress at his house. He said the suspect fled in a SUV and provided the vehicle's plates. Authorities looked for the man throughout the day but couldn't find him.
Later, just before 8 p.m., a teenage girl reported a man in a vehicle in the Target parking lot exposing himself. The teen drove away but the man followed. She said he was in an SUV and gave his plates. It matched the burglary suspect.
Once Deputies arrived at the parking lot the suspect fled. The SUV went through several business parking lots and ended up on a frontage road. Speeds reach 52 mph. The SUV ended up in the Menard's parking lot where it stopped, but then accelerated again. A deputy performed a PIT maneuver and disabled the SUV.
The man, who was removed from the vehicle, resisted being handcuffed and tried to run. He was taken by ambulance to the Douglas County Hospital with minor injuries from the icy snow.
Two deputies and one officer also sustained minor cuts and scraped from the snow. A squad car was damaged during the pursuit after failing to negotiate a turn.
Jason Maloney is currently in the Douglas County Jail. The attorney's office will review the case and file charges.
Alexandria Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol and the North Ambulance were also involved in the incident.
