WASHINGTON (KFGO) - A federal judge says he will decide by Sept. 9 whether to grant a request for a temporary injunction to stop construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota.
Leaders of the Standing Rock Reservation want the project stopped saying the Corps of Engineers didn't give full consideration to their environmental concerns.
The pipeline is designed to move North Dakota oil to Illinois. It would cross underneath the Missouri River.
The hearing was held in Washington, DC where several people protested outside. Among them was actress Susan Sarandon, who says the pipeline threatens the tribe's water supply.
