FARGO (KFGO) - Investigation is underway into the cause of a fire in Fargo that destroyed a hot tub and caused damage to the surrounding area.
Flames were shooting in the air when firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after the fire was reported in the driveway at the rear of a home at 1402 15th Street South around 2:45 a.m. Thursday.
A resident of the home told KFGO News the hot tub had been stored there since last fall and was not connected to power. A fire investigator has been called in to determine a cause.
Battalion Chief Bruce Anderson says heat from the fire damaged a camper trailer parked nearby and a wooden fence.
Timing is everything. Anderson says had a neighbor not spotted the fire and called 9-1-1, the fire could have spread, fanned by strong winds.
