BISMARCK (KFGO-KCND) - The North Dakota Senate has passed its version of "Andrew's Law," to protect confidential informants.
The parents of Andrew Sadek, a college student in Wahpeton, supported the original proposal and were upset when they heard that changes had been made.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Kelly Armstrong says he thought the house bill went too far. It extended to all informants used by law enforcement.
The revised bill would allow the Peace Officers Standards and Training Board to set guidelines on the use of informants. A final version will come from a conference committee.
The body of Andrew Sadek was found in the Red River. His parents believe he was murdered after he agreed to work as an informant for a drug task force.
