VALLEY CITY, N.D. (KFGO News Dakota) - The Valley City Commission approved of separating the contract with City Attorney Russell J. Myhre during a special City Commission on Monday.
Last week, Mayor Dave Carlsrud said an interview with Russ Myhre concerning controversy with members of Citizens for Community Involvement in the High Plains Reader are his own words and independent of the city. He said a tasteless image shown in the article does not reflect the views of the city commission, the city, or its employees.
Carlsrud voted against the motion to part ways with Myhre three months early due to the added cost that will be incurred by the city during the transition process and he was confident that Myhre would conduct himself professionally.
But commissioners Duane Magnuson, Matt Pedersen and Mike Bishop voted in favor of his early departure by three months. He city had previously agreed to pay him $150,000.
City Administrator David Schelkoph said the city has three attorneys interested in replacing Myhre.
