FARGO (KFGO) - "Peppy" is home. The five year-old African Grey parrot owned by Bob and Terri Jameson of Fargo flew off Monday afternoon. That prompted a desperate search by the Jameson's and volunteers with an avian rescue center in West Fargo.
Bob Jameson says "Peppy" hadn't been flying recently due to a minor wing injury so his wife wasn't concerned when she went outside with the parrot on her shoulder.
"She went outside to the patio to pick up a rug to straighten it out and she leaned down, that spooked him, he just bolted from there, Monday afternoon it was really windy out of the north and he got up in that wind and poof, he was gone," said Bob Jameson.
"Peppy" went viral on social media, he was featured on "KFGO'S Pet Patrol" and the It Takes 2 with Jack and Amy podcast.
Jameson says the call of relief came from a Fargo animal control officer. "Peppy" had been found several blocks away. He'd flown onto the patio of an apartment.
Jameson says "Peppy" seems tired and he had an appointment with a veterinarian. The Jameson's purchased "Peppy" from someone in Ohio when he was six months-old.
