FARGO (KFGO) - A study of Fargo's immigrant population shows that foreign-born residents have a tremendous effect on the local economy.
Part of report says immigrants contributed nearly $543 million to the local economy in 2014, with spending power of $149 million.
The Fargo City Commission asked for the study after Commissioner Dave Piepkorn criticized the resettlement program operated by Lutheran Social Services.
Piepkorn was out of town and unavailable for comment.
Petitions are being circulated for a special election to recall Piepkorn. The city attorney is awaiting a legal opinion on the recall from the attorney general.
