PEMBINA, N.D. (KFGO) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection says a man was hospitalized following a weekend shooting at the Pembina Port of Entry.

The Border patrol was notified about a suspicious person in a vehicle near the North Dakota border crossing early Saturday. Two agents found the person headed south from the border. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver rammed the border patrol vehicle, was hostile and refused to comply with verbal commands. The agents then fired their guns, although a spokesman says none of the gunfire hit the person, however, he was taken to the Cavalier hospital for treatment of self inflicted injuries. The injuries are not life threatening.

Citing the on-going nature of the investigation, neither the C-B-P or the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation, will comment further.
