Maple Valley School District referendum goes down for fourth time

TOWER CITY, N.D. (KFGO) - For the fourth time, voters in the Maple Valley School District failed to get the necessary 60% super majority to pass a $14.3 million bond referendum.

Yesterday's vote came up less than 2% short. Superintendent Brian Wolf says 544 voters approved the bond issue. 381 voted against it.

Voters in the Maple Valley School District were asked to approve the measure which would have allowed the closing schools in Oriska and Buffalo and consolidated k-through-12 classes in the renovated and expanded high school in Tower City.

A September, 2016 vote failed by less than 1%. A vote in April of last year failed by just two votes and a 2015 vote failed by a similar, close margin.

The District covers portions of both Barnes and Cass counties
