BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Two students have been selected by the North Dakota University System to receive scholarships under the Bakken U program.

The Bakken U initiative was founded last year to help keep people in the energy industry from leaving the state when times are tough. The program is open to oil workers, former oil workers and their spouses.

The winners are Chad Schoch, a process plant technology student at Bismarck State College, and Briley Crissler, a business management student at Minot State University. They will each receive $5,000 awards.

The scholarships are sponsored by the university system and its foundation.
