MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) - Two people have been arrested in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of vintage collectibles and guns from a home near Barnesville. The merchandise includes sports memorabilia and rare artifacts from World War I and World War II.
“The suspects were known to the victim” according to Clay County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Landsem. “He (the victim) valued the collectibles at about $80,000.”
Some of the stolen items were recovered from a home in Detroit Lakes. The items include a rare sheet of Adolf Hitler postage stamps from 1942, a World War I era passport and autographed boxing gloves. Landsem says several other items are still unaccounted for.
Clay County prosecutors have charged 32 year-old Justin Marlen and 26-year-old Amber Hedstrom with nine counts of felony theft. Landsem says investigators believe the suspects sold the stolen items to buy drugs.
