Park Rapids, MN (KFGO) - Road flares resembling dynamite caused Park Rapid schools to go into a lock down Thursday afternoon.
The Park Rapids Police Department says just before 1:30 p.m., they received a call from a business owner who said they found what they thought may be dynamite inside a donated box.
A perimeter was set up, the surrounding area was evacuated and Park Rapids Century School and Park Rapids High School were placed on a lock down.
The Crow Wing County Bomb Squad responded and discovered the items were actually road flares that resembled dynamite.
The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Park Rapids Fire Department, Hubbard County Emergency Management, City of Park Rapids Public Works Department and the Minnesota DNR were among those that assisted.
