FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A new attraction at an annual drone festival in Fargo, North Dakota, is a film festival that invites 5-minute movies that rely on drone-shot footage for at least half that.
Organizers say they were surprised to get 42 entries from 21 countries. North Dakota has invested $40 million in the unmanned aircraft industry.
Winners are announced Thursday at the two-day Drone Focus conference. It's the third year for the conference, which this year counts Labor Secretary Elaine Chao among some 50 speakers.
Categories included narrative, landscape and architecture, showreel, lifestyle and work by students. Conference attendees will also vote on a people's choice award.
