MOORHEAD, MINN. (KFGO) - Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity launched its 56th home "build" Friday. The wall raising in Moorhead, kicked off "blitz week" a week of building that will complete the home's exterior. It will be the new home of Tom and Angie Hagen and their children. The family is now living in a mobile home that is falling down around them.

Spokesman Pete Christopher says a second Habitat home will be built this fall in Fargo, on the site of a razed house at 308 9th Ave. North where Marcus Schumacher shot and killed Fargo Police Officer Jason Moser, then himself, following a domestic incident. Christopher says it's called the "2017 Hero Build."

Owner Michelle Schumacher requested the site go to Habitat after the city bought and leveled the home earlier this year. Christopher says the new home will go to a single mom who was a victim of sex trafficing for five years who has dedicated her life to rescuing other victims out.

The city sold the property to Habitat for Humanity for $12,600, the same amount it paid Michelle Schumacher for the site. The house was heavily damaged in the stand-off the night of the shooting.
