ELBOW LAKE, Minn. (KBRF) - What used to be a quiet, serene lake with abundant wildlife on the outskirts of Elbow Lake, has turned very noisy and loud according to Flekkefjord Lake residents.
The Elbow Lake Municipal Airport has become an FAA and State Of Minnesota Certified Seaplane Runway and can only operate from 7 a.m. until sunset.
Property owners have approached the Elbow Lake City Council recently to see if any resolution was possible.
Maggie Aul, one of the homeowners, says that even with the limited hours, the noise is deafening sometimes.
Airport officials have warned pilots not to ‘warm up’ their planes in the future. They have also advised residents to try to capture the identification numbers of the offending planes so they can pinpoint the source of the some of the issues.
