FARGO (KFGO) - The Fargo Fire Department has a new drone thanks to a grant from the state Division of Emergency Services.
Chief Steve Dirksen says it will be a valuable resource used to get a "birds eye" view at large fires, hazmat incidents and searches.
Dirksen says "the skies the limit"when it comes to the use of the drone.
Under an agreement with DES, the drone can be used by other agencies if needed.
A half dozen firefighters are undergoing training as pilots and the drone should be ready for use by mid-summer.
The done is equipped with a camera and thermal imaging camera and cost between $11,000 and $12,000.
