FARGO (KFGO) - Sidewalk entertainment and dining on downtown Fargo sidewalks continues to expand. As more new businesses and people started heading downtown, more musicians, or buskers, along with food pushcart vendors and expanded sidewalk restaurants has increased as well.

Derrick LaPoint, with the city planning office, says a few years ago, said just seven permits were issued for entertainers. This year, there are 19 permits, six for pushcarts, 10 for outdoor dining and one for a store selling merchandise outside its front entrance. The permits range from $50 to $125, running for one to three years.

LaPoint said the city is looking at making some changes to the permits, to allow different types of entertainment and food trailers that would be set up on side streets so they don't interfere with established restaurants.

His office is now reviewing a request from an orchestra that wants to do a concert, flash mob style. Details on that are still being worked out.
