BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) - A long-time North Dakota legislator died Thursday at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck. Former Representative William Kretschmar was 83. The Republican lawmaker from Venturia served in the house from 1973 to 1997 and was reelected, serving District 28 from 2000 to 2016.
Governor Doug Burgum says Kretchmar's service to the state as a legislator, attorney, former Speaker of the House and many civic organizations over the past half century is a "testament to his passion for North Dakota...and he will be missed."
