MANDAN, N.D. (KFGO) - President Donald Trump pitched tax reform and for bipartisan cooperation of his plan during a speech Wednesday afternoon in Mandan.
The President says if the United States wants to renew the nation's prosperity, and reestablish economic dominance, the country needs tax reform that is "pro-growth, pro-jobs, pro-worker, pro-family and pro-American."
Trump told the crowd of some 700, those in congress who vote against tax reform need to be voted out of office.
While the speech was short on details, Trump said details will be available in the next couple of weeks.
Trump briefly touched on the drought. He told state farmers and ranchers in dealing with the drought that he's with them "100 percent'' but said nothing about the state's request for a disaster declaration.
Gov. Doug Burgum made the request almost a month ago. A presidential declaration could pave the way for direct disaster payments to producers affected by drought.
Burgum says he pressed the matter of the declaration with Trump earlier in the day, and planned to travel again to Washington on Thursday to lobby for it.
