DETROIT LAKES, MN (KFGO) - A West Fargo man with a criminal record in Minnesota and North Dakota was taken to a Fargo hospital after he was shot by two Becker County deputies west of Detroit Lakes following a chase Thurs. night.
He's identified as Dean Minnerath, 55. Minnerath led deputies on a pursuit that ended when his tires were flattened by spikes on Hwy. 10.
The BCA says Minnerath got out of the car with a rifle and started to shoot when deputies returned fire. The officers were on a call of someone threatening to shoot people when they first saw Minnerath's vehicle on a county road.
He was flown to Fargo by medical helicopter. His condition hasn't been released.
Two deputies are on standard administrative leave.
