MINOT, N.D. (KFGO) - A friendly Twitter feud between the Minot Air Force Base and Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri about which was better turned into much more when the official Air Force Twitter Account stepped in with an attempt to resolve the argument.

It tweeted, "We didn't want to do this, but if you two can't get along we must. Santa will bring you nothing this year because he isn't real!" The Air Force also threatened to take away television privileges for two weeks at the bases.

When the social media barbs were picked up by national media, the Air Force backed off it's claim Santa wasn't real with a follow-up Tweet wanting to make sure it isn't the "grinch." The Tweet said, NORAD tracks Santa's sleigh ride every Christmas Eve with its satellites, radar and fighter jets and declared "Santa is real, " and said it was only bluffing to get the Whiteman and Minot air bases "in line."
