Moorhead, MN (KFGO) - Over 100 pounds of prescription drugs were collected in Moorhead during the statewide Prescription Drug Take Back day on Saturday.
The city says since partnering with the DEA and local business seven years ago, 3,000 pounds of prescription medication has voluntarily been turned in to be properly destroyed.
Incineration is much safer than other common disposal methods such as flushing medicines down the toilet into the water table or putting in garbage landfills.
The city says there will continue to be a free medicine disposal drop box in the front lobby of the law enforcement center (915 9th Ave N.). There is no fee for this service and it is completely anonymous.
