Homeland Security Secretary nominee questioned

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KFGO) - President Trump’s nominee to head the Department of Homeland Security fielded questions on a variety of security issues during her confirmation hearing before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

Kirstjen Nielson, the White House deputy chief of staff, was challenged by Senator Heidi Heitkamp who asked if she would stand up to the  president if asked to something that violated the law.

Nielson said she would fully comply with all laws and, said she would "definately tell the President if I thought a particular policy violated any law of our country."

Heitkamp also received a committment from Nielson to prioritize enhancing and improving Northern Border security.
