Duluth, MN (KFGO) - Essentia Health has fired about 50 employees who refused to get a flu shot.
The Duluth-based health care provider had set a Monday deadline for employees to get flu shots or receive an exemption for medical or religious reasons. The policy also applies to volunteers and construction workers.
The Minnesota Nurses Association said it will file grievances in an attempt to win back the jobs of any nurses who are fired. The United Steel Workers had asked a judge to issue an injunction to block the requirement, but the judge declined.
Essentia has a hospital in Fargo and clinics in Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo.
