GRAFTON, ND (KFGO) - A judge has unsealed the plea agreement of a Grafton, ND woman who locked four young children in a dog cage.
Court documents say Jordan Nelson agreed to issue an "Alford" plea of guilty to four counts of felony abuse or neglect of a child. Prosecutors dismissed four additional counts of felonious restraint.
The agreement says Nelson will serve two-and-a-half years in prison followed by two-and-a-half years' supervised release. Nelson must also register as an offender against children and pay $4,485 in court fees.
The children told investigators that they were locked in the kennel and the lights were turned off as punishment. One of the children was forced to eat dog food.
The kennel was in the basement of a home that Nelson shared with the childrens' mother.
