Conferences on opioid crisis scheduled in Fargo, Bismarck

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A leading expert on overdose prevention and treatment is slated to speak at opioid conferences in North Dakota.

The state Department of Human Services is sponsoring symposiums in Fargo on Monday and Bismarck on Tuesday. The event will bring together media professionals, pharmacists, behavioral health providers, first responders, educators, policymakers, law enforcement authorities and public health workers.

The featured speaker will be Erin Winstanley, director of health services research at Mercy Health in Ohio and faculty member at the University of Cincinnati. She has been a lead investigator on federally-funded studies looking into overdose prevention and evidence-based treatment of opioid disorders.
