FARGO (KFGO) - Vandals were at work on the NDSU campus over the weekend.
University Police Chief Bill Vandal says a heavy granite monument commemorating 100 years of NDSU's ROTC program was pushed off its concrete pad and ended up on its side. The statue is near the south entrance of Benson Bunker Fieldhouse where the ROTC office is located, at 1301 Centennial Blvd. North. It was not damaged but will need to be righted and reset.
Vandal doesn't believe the vandalism was directed at the ROTC but rather the result of random vandalism that occurs on campus, occassionally on weekends. It's believed to have happened sometime early Sunday morning. He calls the prank "unfortunate."
Investigation is ongoing. Vandal says anyone with information is asked to contact NDSU police at 231-8998 or the campus text-a-tip line at 701-526-6006.
