FARGO (KFGO) - Democrat candidates won all three seats in North Dakota Legislative District 44, while Republicans won in Districts 46 and 16.
State District 44 Democrat Merrill Piepkorn was elected into the legislature knocking off incumbent Senator Tim Flakoll. Democrat Karla Rose Hanson was elected into the House of Representatives. Fellow Democrat Josh Boschee was re-elected.
In the District 46 Senate contest, Fargo developer Jim Roers defeated Democratic State Senator George Sinner. There is a chance for a possible recount. In the District 46 House race, Shannon Roers-Jones and incumbent Jim Kasper were the winners.
In District 16, David Clemens was elected to the Senate. In the race for the House in that district, Republican Ben Koppelman was re-elected and Andrew Marschall was elected to two-year term.
