MOORHEAD (KFGO) - The Moorhead City Council has started the process of selecting a new member to replace Jim Haney. Haney submitted his resignation Monday, effective December 31.
He promised he would step down if he won election to a seat on the Clay County Commission. Haney ran unopposed for the commission seat in last week's election.
City Attorney John Shockley says the applications to fill the vacancy will be accepted thru November 30.
Applications must be submitted by those living in Ward 2 and have to meet the normal requirements of holding office.
The city council will review the submitted applications and select a replacement by majority vote.
Details on the process will be posted at the city website and social media sites. Those signed up for city e-mail notifications will also receive the information.
