FARGO (KFGO-AM) - North Dakota Democratic governor candidate Marvin Nelson has a long way to go before catching up on his campaign’s fundraising goal.
With less than just 12 weeks to go before election day, Nelson tells KFGO News that his campaign has raised approximately $50,000; nowhere near the $700,000 he would have preferred.
“It would be really nice to have that, ($700,000) but realistically, we’re probably not going to get that” Nelson said. “We can run a very viable campaign at about $400,000. We’re going to need that.”
Nelson says his campaign currently has enough money to "keep going" but says he hopes more funds can be raised as election day gets closer.
“Frankly, there isn’t 3 or 4 hours every day to sit on the phone and raise money” according to Nelson. “At some point, I’m hoping people will notice and they will step up and I don’t have to spend all that time on the phone talking to the people who are already going to vote for me.”
