Moorhead river search suspended

FARGO (KFGO) -- Authorities have suspended the search for a car in the Red River. Moorhead Police and firefighters scrambled to the north dam early Saturday after several people witnessed a car go into the river.

Fargo and Moorhead firefighters searched the river in boats for several hours. They used long poles to try to locate the car. They eventually turned the search over to Valley Water Rescue which continued to try to find the car using sonar and a remote operated vehicle. They spent a good part of the day Saturday searching without any luck.   Authorities then decided to call the search off.

The river was moving fast on Saturday and firefighters say the vehicle could have been pulled downstream.
