FARGO (KFGO) - An rude wake-up for guests at Vista Inn & Suites, just off University Drive and I-94 in Fargo. Firefighters responded to a report of smoke in the hotel just before 4:30 a.m. Wednedsay. Battalion Chief Craig Nelson says they found a small fire in a utility room on the second floor and a lot of smoke.
Guests were quickly evacuated because of concerns about the smoke. Most went to cars in the hotel's parking lot to get out of the minus 30 degree windchill. Nelson says they were allowed to return to their rooms once air monitoring determined it was safe.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is limited to the utility room.
