FARGO (KFGO-AM) - The National Transportation Safety Board is scheduled to meet next week to release the cause of a 2013 oil train derailment near Casselton, ND.
The derailment caused a series of explosions and the evacuation of hundreds of Casselton residents. The incident led to a national discussion about the safety of transporting oil by train.
NTSB spokesman Eric Weiss says the four-year-old investigation's "final cause" is expected to be released when the board meets next Tuesday.
The investigation was initially expected to take about 12-18 months to complete.
