Fargo, N.D. (KFGO) - Fargo's road construction season is coming soon.

"The biggest one you'll see right out of the shoot, probably the world record for the soonest start here in Fargo," said City of Fargo transportation division engineer Jeremy Gorden. "Next Monday (the 13th), 32nd Avenue (South) at the interchange, a mile road down there on the south side of town will, construction will begin. We'll be starting to take the median out, reduce the lanes and put up temporary signals."

The stretch of road on 32nd Avenue South from 32nd Street and 42nd Street will be widened to six lanes, double, westbound left turn lanes at 42nd Street will be added, along with a new southbound I-29 eastbound loop ramp and a pedestrian underpass. Utilities, traffic signals and street lights will also be updated. The project is slated to be finished in October 2017.

Other construction projects include:

North Broadway between 12th and 19th Avenues- This project is being split into two separate projects. Both include complete roadway reconstruction, new curb and gutter, street lights, concrete pavement, some city utilities, and installation of a sanitary sewer force main. Both projects will roughly begin in May with work completed in the fall.

Main Avenue from 2nd Street South to 4th Street South- This project includes a complete roadway reconstruction and water main replacement on 4th Street. This project will be awarded in late April, with construction starting shortly after. It should be finished by fall. The city also plans to reconstruct Main Avenue in 2018 between University Drive and the Red River.

25th Street South reconstruction between Main Avenue and 2nd Ave South- This project includes street reconstruction and a new railroad crossing surface for both roadway and sidewalk. Main Avenue will not be affected. Construction will hopeful start late March/early April after the bid is awarded. All work should be completed by September 1.

Citywide Mill and Overlay- This is part of the city's annual infrastructure improvement efforts and impacts several areas. Most of this year's work is contained to the area bounded by I-94, University Drive, 32nd Avenue South and 25th Street. This project will begin in mid April and end in the fall.

Citywide Seal Coat- This project is also part of the city's annual infrastructure improvement and also impacts multiple areas of Fargo. The project will take place in 13 different areas. This project will begin in mid-March and end in the fall.

Depending on the budget, more projects might be added.

"We're hoping to do a project on 25th Street South to do some concrete rehab work," said Fargo division engineer Tom Knakmuhs. "It's going to be really based on out budget on how much we [can] do. We have an area from 17th Avenue South all the way up to 3rd Avenue where we need to do some concrete repairs."
