FARGO (KFGO) - A big boost in electric vehicle charging stations in North Dakota is expected from the record settlement in the Volkswagen diesel emissions cheating scandal.
That payout is headed to states, including North Dakota, for dedicated purposes. Citizens Local Energy Action Network, known as "CLEAN", is promoting the use of those charging stations. There are currently no public chargers in North Dakota.
Fargo Parking Commission member Mike Williams says 15% of the $7.5 million must be used for charging stations. That totals about $900,000. Williams says they would be located along Interstates 29 and 94 and Highway 2.
"ChargePoint", the largest provider of commercial chargers in North America, is rapidly expanding its coverage and conducted a demontration in Fargo Wed.
