FARGO - Acting U.S. Attorney Chris Myers of North Dakota says he is no longer interested in staying on as the state's top federal prosecutor.
Myers tells the state's congressional delegation in a letter that he's "increasingly concerned'' about how the selection process will affect the U.S. attorney's office. Former U.S. Attorney Drew Wrigley has expressed interested in returning to the post he held from 2001 to 2009.
Myers originally told the delegation he was interested if he didn't have to go through the traditional nomination process. Myers was named to the job by the Department of Justice in 2015 after Timothy Purdon resigned.
Myers tells the delegation he wouldn't expect any problem if Wrigley is named to the job and Myers reverts to his old job as an assistant U.S. attorney.
