MOORHEAD (KFGO) - A body thought to be that of a man who drowned in the Red River a week and a half ago was recovered near the former toll bridge between Fargo and Moorhead around 7 a.m. Thurs.
Moorhead Police Sgt. Clint Stephenson says Valley Water Rescue located the body hung up in tree branches about 200 yards south of the bridge on the Fargo side of the river as the dive team was preparing to do another search. The dive team had been searching the river since 29-year old David Tikayne drowned June 5 while swimming near the walk bridge at Moorhead's Memorial Park.
Stephenson says the clothing description matches what Tikayne was wearing. The body has been sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner for positive identification.
