FARGO (KFGO) - Electronic mapping company "HERE Technologies" will shut down its Fargo location, resulting in the loss of about 200 jobs. Company spokesman Jordan Stark tells KFGO News that the decision to close the facility was a "very difficult decision."
The positions in Fargo are being transferred to offices in Chicago, Georgia, the Netherlands and India. Stark says the Fargo employees "will be considered and prioritized for suitable open positions elsewhere in the company.” "
Navteq' first opened the Fargo facility more than 20 years ago.
Stark says the Fargo jobs are being phased out over the next 8 months.
The company's official statement is below.
“This was a very difficult decision and HERE will support each employee throughout the next eight months as the work in Fargo is transferred to our offices across the U.S. and globally. The decision was driven by the need to co-locate our map engineering operations in Fargo with our high-volume production and development teams at larger sites. HERE has created a robust transition program to ensure all impacted employees have the information they need about potential transfer opportunities, job openings, outplacement services, career counseling and severance packages.”
“HERE will also provide additional support to ensure the Fargo employees will be considered and prioritized for suitable open positions elsewhere in the company.”
