FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO) - Otter Tail Power Company wants to increase electric rates in North Dakota. The company has filed a formal request with the North Dakota Public Service Commission.
Otter Tail says part of the request is due to required environmental technology improvements at its coal-fired Big Stone plant in northeast South Dakota.
If approved, Otter Tail says a typical monthly residential bill would rise about $11.50.
The company has about a quarter-million customers in the Dakotas and Minnesota.
