We Fest weekend was fatality-free

DETROIT LAKES (KFGO) -- Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow says it was a safe weekend on the roads in lakes country. Troopers stepped up their presence as traffic was thick with people heading to and from We Fest at the Soo Pass Ranch near Detroit Lakes. "What we're seeing is more people making those smart choices when it comes to looking for the sober ride, having that designated driver, and that's what we ultimately want to see. So it's been very consistent over the last five to 10 years maybe you could say, so that's the message we want to send. It's not about the number of tickets we write or arrests we make. It's really about preventing those destructive decisions that somebody may be involved with" Grabow said.

There weren't any serious crashes or fatalities in and around the Detroit Lakes area.

Thirteen people were arrested for DWI, 12 people were arrested for underage drinking and driving, and 20 other arrests were for warrants and other offenses. Troopers also handed out 160 seatbelt citations and 40 speed citations.
