Grand Forks, N.D. (KNOX) - A six foot snake found abandoned south of Grand Forks, N.D. a week ago has a new home.

The boa constrictor was adopted over the weekend by a University of North Dakota football player who has experience with reptiles.

The snake was brought to the Circle of friend Human Society by the Grand Forks Sheriff’s office for safe keeping after being spotted slithering along County Road Six.

Circle Director Lauralee Tupa described the Boa as a good snake who likes to snuggle.

Authorities say the Boa was likely an escapee as the snake is native to Central and South America.
