FARGO - (KFGO) - North Dakota's congressional delegation is reacting to lewd comments about women Donald Trump made in a newly discovered 2005 video.
Democrat Senator Heidi Heitkamp said in a prepared statement, "These vular and offensive comments reaffirm the extraordinary disrespect toward women as well as many others we have already come to expect from Donald Trump, but they're not what the American people deserve and they're not what North Dakotans should accept in a presidential candidate.
Republican Senator John Hoeven said Trump's comments were "offensive and wrong...he not only needs to apologize, he needs to show through his words and actions that he does not believe in the views expressed in the video."
Republican Congressman Kevin Cramer, who endorsed Trump early in the campaign, said he doesn't condone that kind of talk.
While neither Hoeven or Cramer indicated they would withdraw support for Trump, Matthew Becker, former North Dakota GOP executive director and former aid to Cramer, spoke out against Trump. Last week on KFGO's News & Views with Joel Heitkamp he said Trump "is patently unqualified for office..has no interest in facts" and called him an "infomercial huckster."
In an apology, Trump said he'd promise to be a better man and that the chances of him stepping down as Republican presidential candidate are "zero."
