EDGELEY, N.D. (KFGO) - A retired North Dakota farmer may have just created the largest political sign in America.
Gene Hanson of Edgeley has fashioned a half mile long, 200 foot wide message on his grass airstrip. It reads: "VOTE TRUMP NEVER HILLARY." He used a large mower, pulled by a tractor, to cut the message on the runway several weeks ago.
Up until now, it could be only viewed from the air, but he has now posted an aerial video and a photo of the image on his Facebook page. Hanson is already getting responses on social media and by phone, both for and against the message. He says it's all for fun and not meant to be malicious. A lukewarm supporter, he says he'll "probably" vote for Donald Trump.
He says he was "fond" of Bernie Sanders early on and that led him to carve "FEEL THE BERN" in his field. A previous message in the field said, "GOP GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER."
Hanson doubts the Trump message will draw the attention he received when he used his a tractor and disc to carve out a huge image of the Prince love symbol in his field shortly after the pop star's death in April. The image was so popular when he posted it on Facebook it went viral on social media.
